Born and raised in Helsinki, Finland, Minna Parikka began designing shoes at the tender age of 15, taking her first step on the road to become a footwear designer. Made of the finest leathers, her handcrafted creations are brimming with glamour, attitude and edge. Combining her love of drama and the surreal, Minna creates designs that pay tribute to the eras past.

Minna has spent the past 14 years of her young life honing her craft, studying footwear design in the UK and traveling the world in search of inspiration for her creations. Since launching the Minna Parikka brand in 2006, her shoes are now being sold in 7 countries and she has her own boutique in Helsinki. In 2002, Minna received the title of Young British Glove designer of the Year. Her latest achievement is making it to the top 5 finalists of the US 2009 Independent Handbag Designer Awards in the “Best Handbag in Overall Style and Design” and the “Best Shoe in Overall Style and Design” categories.

This summer, Minna was honored with her very own stamp in her home country Finland. The 1st class stamp celebrating the young Finnish internationally acclaimed shoe designer was issued on May 6, 2009 and features stunning lipstick red stiletto heels from the S/S09 collection.
